Latest News Up Date Rick Ankiel:Colin written by ,Rick Ankiel has had a Braves uniform since he came over from the Royals mid-season. He’s traveled with the team, started occasionally, and been practically useless with the exception of a couple outfield assists.
But late Saturday night, with the electric crack of bat on ball, Ankiel launched the ball into McCovey Cove and himself into the ranks of the True Braves. As he held up his right index finger and rounded the bases, astounded Braves fans across the nation pinched themselves to make sure they weren’t dreaming. He crossed home plate, giving the Braves a 5-4 lead, and high fived everyone in the dugout.
