According to unofficial results, Khadija Amir got 75,410 votes while Najeebuddin received 49,003 votes. Voting was started at 9am and ended at 5pm. Clashes were erupted at some polling stations but Rangers controlled the situation. Qamar Zaman Kaira and Governor Punjab Salman Taseer telephoned Khadija Amir and congratulated her.
The seat NA-184 fell vacant after the resignation of PPP's Amir Yar Waran for possessing a fake degree. Waran was declared ineligible to have contested elections by the Lahore High Court for holding a fake degree.
