Sandra Bullock In Talks To Star In 'Gravity

Latest News About Some of Hollywood's top leading ladies — from Angelina Jolie to Natalie Portman — had orbited Alfonso Cuarón's "Gravity" this year, but none came in for a permanent landing. Now another A-list name has been pulled into negotiations for the starring role.

Sandra Bullock is currently in talks regarding the 3-D sci-fi flick, Variety reports. In the thriller, Bullock would play the sole survivor of a disastrous space mission who is attempting to get home to her daughter.

Robert Downey Jr. is attached to star as well, though the film is said to focus largely on its female character in a similar way to "Cast Away" centering on Tom Hanks' character of Chuck Noland. Cuarón, who directed "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and the excellent "Children of Men," penned the script with his son, Jonas.

In February, it appeared that , but could not find any room in her schedule, as a result of her commitments to a "Salt" sequel and a Bosnian war flick she's directing. Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter said that Warner Bros. declined to meet Jolie's $20 million asking price. Portman, similarly, could not fit "Gravity" into her schedule. Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively have reportedly shown interest as well.
